T-Wolves Earn Two Stars in MHL this Week

The Miramichi Timberwolves have captured two of the three stars of the week in the MHL for October 13th – 19th.

This week’s first star is Miramichi Timberwolves forward Jordan Kennedy. The 19 year old Labrador City, Newfoundland native makes his second appearance in the three stars this season thanks to racking up nine points in two seasons, helping the T-Wolves go 2-0 on the week.

On Friday night in St. Stephen, Kennedy went on the biggest offensive tear of any single player to date this season, scoring four times and adding three assists in a 9-2 Miramichi win over the County Aces. For his remarkable effort, the second year MHLer was named the game’s first star.

The following night at home, Kennedy scored once more and added an assist on the eventual game winning goal as the Timberwolves got by the Amherst Ramblers by a score of 6-5. Thanks to this scoring barrage, Kennedy goes into Week 7 of MHL regular season action as the league’s leading scorer with 22 points in nine games. He also sports a seven game point scoring streak, six of those games being of the multi-point variety.

Second star honours for the week go to Woodstock Slammers forward Riley Craft.

This week’s third star is Miramichi Timberwolves forward Billy Gaston. The 20 year old Miramichi native equalled his linemate Jordan Kennedy with a nine point effort in the T-Wolves two victories last week.

On Friday night in St. Stephen, Gaston scored once and added five assists in Miramichi’s 9-2 victory over the County Aces. In addition, he was named the game’s second star.

The following night at home against the Amherst Ramblers, Gaston got the scoring started just over a minute into the first period and went on to chip in two assists in the a 6-5 Timberwolves triumph, their seventh straight. This high scoring weekend has pulled the fourth year T-Wolves veteran into a tie for third place in the MHL scoring race with 20 points in nine games. Just as impressive, in his past three games, Gaston has amassed 12 points.
