The Newcastle Rotary would like to thank the staff at the Scotiabank Chatham, led by Valerie Comeau and the staff at the Scotiabank Henry Street led by Melissa McGloin for their amazing donation to this years Rotary Bags and Bubbles Purse Auction!! Staff of the Scotiabank on Water Street in Chatham are shown in a photo in this article presenting $3000 to the Rotary Club of Newcastle’s Purse Auction co-chair, Karen Howe. Staff volunteered their time to assist the club with fundraising efforts for the event and were able to donate under Scotiabank’s Team Community Program. Read more »

Five Miramichi athletes have been chosen by World Performers Canada to compete at the Dance World Cup in Portugal 2019. Sydnee Gallant, Tyra Humphreys, Abby Keenan, Anna Sturgeon and Claire Wood, who dance under the direction of Nancy Hutt at Spotlights & Sequins dance studio, auditioned for and were selected by World Performers Canada in August. GoChi is Northumberland County’s new local community transportation co-operative with a mission to provide efficient, affordable transportation and connections to residents within county lines. Northumberland County has a large, rural geographical area with an aging population spread over miles of rural routes leading to several small urban centres with increasingly centralized public services. The Royal Canadian Legion (RCL) Chatham Branch 3 hosted a Veterans Dinner on Sunday November 4th. The event was well attended with everyone enjoying a wonderful social evening.
