2019 Canada Day Events in the Mighty Miramichi Region

Below is a list of Canada Day Happenings and Events along the Mighty Miramichi Region
Miramichi City
June 29th: Historic Chatham Business District – The events kick off at 8 am Saturday, June 29th with sidewalk sales of various Businesses on Water Street. Beginning at 9am there will be Balloon Creations by Ian Donovan, and a Scavenger hunt (Must pickup your sheet at 1745 Water Street), Cake cutting ceremony at 10 am, donated by Atlantic Super Store, from 10 am to 12 pm noon, there will be Face painting with Amy – Glitter Tattoo by Hanna, a Magician Illusionist – Balloon Creations. Also look for “Elsa” and a Minions character walking along Water Street! There will be free give- aways, a colouring contest and fun for the family! June 30: Fireworks in Miramichi – The Fireworks in the Miramichi will be held on Sunday evening, June 30th, 2019 beginning at dusk at the wharf in Newcastle and are presented by the Rock ‘n’ Roll Festival Committee, Fishermen’s Powwow Committee and the City of Miramichi.
July 1st – Newcastle Lion’s Club Annual Canada Day Breakfast – From 7 am to 11 am, come out for a delicious Pancake and Sausage Breakfast at the Newcastle Lion’s Club, 324 Morrison Lane. $6 per person, or $20 for a family of four. (Children 12 and Under). For more information call 1-506-622-4293.
July 1st – Canada Day Parade – The Annual City of Miramichi Canada Day Parade starts at 1 pm from the former Harkins Middle School property, onto Newcastle Boulevard, right on Pleasant Street ending at the Miramichi Business Complex (former Miramichi Mall). There will be no parking along the parade route at that time. This event is sponsored by Randy MacTavish and Volunteers.
July 1st – Over the Cove Zipline – Come out to the playground side of the French Fort Cove from 12 pm noon to 6 pm to check out the Over the Cove Zipline. Zipline is $20 for adult, $15 for youth 18 years and under / 55 Years+ (Note: Small Children must ride tandem with Adult). For more information visit: https://www.facebook.com/OvertheCove/
July 1st – Fishermen’s PowWow – Spirit of Peace and Friendship “Gitpo Spirit” – This event kicks off at 6 am with a Sunrise Ceremony behind the Miramichi Beaverbrook Kinsmen Centre in Newcastle. At 9 am, there will be a Parade of Boats in front of the Newcastle Public Library. At 10 am, there will be a Grand Entry and Opening Speeches of the Fishermen’s Pow Wow, followed by a Cultural Market and Artisan Village from 10:30 am to 2 pm. July 1st – Canada Day Birthday Bash – Beginning at 11 am, come out to the Cake Cutting and Flag Raising in front of the Newcastle Public Library. Sponsored by Mayor Adam Lordon and City Council.
July 1st – Grease – Rivermade Productions is presenting the hit smashing musical at the James M. Hill Memorial High School Theatre, 124 Henderson Street in Chatham. Blackville
June 30th – Fireworks in Blackville – The Fireworks in Blackville will be held on Saturday evening, June 30th, at dusk. Entertainment will be in the park at 8 pm by Neon Smoke. The Blackville Volunteer Fire Department will be having a barbecue with curly fries on site.
July 1st – Village of Blackville Canada Day Breakfast – will be held from 7 am to 11 am at the Saint Raphael’s Roman Catholic Church Hall, 105 Main Street in Blackville (Father A.A. McKinnon Hall). Serving: Bacon, Eggs, Hashbrowns, Tea, Coffee and Juice. Admission is $7 each for Adults or $4 for Children under 12 years of age.
July 1st – Strawberry Social – Serving Strawberry Shortcake and Tea will be held from noon to 2 pm at Saint Raphael’s Roman Catholic Church Hall, 105 Main Street in Blackville. Admission is $6 a person. This event is sponsored by the Catholic Women’s League of Saint Raphael’s Roman Catholic Church.
July 1st – Canada Day Parade – The parade kicks off at 3 pm. Immediately following the parade, everyone is asked to join us at the Blackville Municipal Park for entertainment by Debbie Muck and Eric Hendricks, as well as games, a jumping castle, barbecue, cotton candy and free birthday cake! Please note: ATV trail gates will be closed during activities at the park.

Doaktown
July 1st – Canada Day Breakfast – The Village of Doaktown Canada Day Breakfast will be held at the Doaktown Curling Club from 8 am to 11 am for just $10 a person.
July 1st – Flag Raising Ceremony – Held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 23, located at 8 Dr. Hamilton Drive, beginning at 11 am, followed by the serving of cake and refreshments.
July 1st – Canada Day Activities – Held at the Doaktown Community Park, and will be offering: a Bouncy Castle, Face Painting, Splash Pad and Food Trucks from noon to 5 pm, and from 6 – 7 pm, there will be music by Julie and Erdie Price, on the outdoor stage.
As well, there will be activities at the Atlantic Salmon Museum, 263 Main Street from noon to 4 pm and will be offering: Cake and Refreshments, with ice cream on sale in their Gift Shop, Bouncy Castle, Assorted Games, Doaktown’s New Fire Truck, be sure to check it out, a barbecue featuring our famous Salmon Burgers and Hot Dogs, and there will be tickets on our Canada Day Gift Basket valued at $300, to be drawn at 4:00 pm and music by Gary Long and Friends.

Upper Miramichi
July 1: Canada Day Events at Woodmen’s Museum
Events are from noon to 3pm, starting with a Flag Raising and Singing of O Canada. Admission is $3/person and grants access to the museum site and buildings as well as water activities, face painting, photo booth, scavenger hunt, tea & cake, entertainment, and so much more!
