WORLD Suicide Prevention DAY on the Miramichi

SAVE THE DATE!!! Are you or someone you know struggling with mental health issues?

WORLD Suicide Prevention DAY is Tuesday, September 10th, 2019 and it is also happening on the Miramichi at the Queen Elizabeth Park, Ellen Street, Miramichi, New Brunswick (Newcastle).

Come out for a night of finding resources and support!!!

For people of all ages and genders.

There will be FREE food (first come, first serve), music, live entertainment, games and draw prizes.

$250 of Rodd gift cards graciously donated by Rodd Miramichi River to be won!

Booths will be set up for each mental health resource in the community!

There will be booths for:

– Addictions & Mental Health Services
– Child & Youth Services
– Youth Initiatives
– Men’s Mental Health
– Pride Support
– Multicultural Association
– Schizophrenia Society
– Senior Programs/Ageless Grace
– Miramichi Detox Unit
– Caring Friends Activity Center
– Miramichi Trauma Resource Centre
– Social Development

For each booth visited, you be given an additional ballet to be entered in the draw for prizes!!!

Two guest speakers will share with us their recovery stories!

Live music by local artists!!!

There will also being designated ‘Helpers’ (clinical workers) on site wearing yellow lanyards who will be available for people to talk to anyone who needs it and direct them to the help they may need (6-8 PM).

If you feel you can’t reach out directly, there will be a ‘buddy bench’ where a Helper will come talk to you.

We will end with a candle lighting ceremony in memory of loved ones.
