Canada’s Backyard Garden Contest – Local Finalist

Congratulations to Laura Lea Comeau of Derby, who was a finalist in this years Canada’s Backyard Garden Contest. One winner and four finalists were chosen from across Canada from hundreds of entrants. Laura won a $250 Home Hardware Gift Card.

The garden wraps around her turn of the century home and features little hidden paths, hand-made bird baths and stepping stones, driftwood garden art, and a gazebo.

Nine years ago this area behind her house was a dumping ground and she has turned it into a backyard oasis. It is now home to periennial indigenous plants mixed with hybrids, birds, bees, chipmunks, salamanders, squirrels and a frog ditch.
