Edie Szabo Oil Painting Art Classes – Monthly oil painting classes are held at the Saint James and Saint John United Church Centre in Newcastle, 556 King George Hwy from 9am to 3pm. For $65 you take home a completed 16 x 20 painting. All set-up, clean up, and supplies are provided, along with a home-made lunch. Miramichi Art Core – This group is open to all visual artists in the Miramichi region with an interest in creative work centered around painting and related media. Members participate in art displays, plein air events and workshops. Meetings are held monthly. Visit www.miramichiartcore.ca to complete a membership form.

Miramichi Cross Country Ski Club – Located in Nelson Miramichi, the club is known as “The Very Best Ski Trails” in NB. They have 25km of groomed trails created and maintained just for cross country skiing and 6km of snowshoe trails. There is a 4 km lighted ski trail open until 9:30pm. Miramichi Garden Club – Open to all gardening enthusiasts in Miramichi and surrounding areas, bring along your ideas and tales of your garden to share and new members are welcome. Miramichi Rug Hookers
The Miramichi Rug Hookers meet on Thursdays in the Senior Citizen’s Room of the Newcastle Friendship Club at the Newcastle Lion’s Club, 324 Morrison Lane from 10am to 3pm. New members are welcome to attend and bring your project to work on. Contact Katie Vienneau at 506-622-0044.

Miramichi Senior Sawdustmakers Inc. – A woodworking club for retired seniors that provides a well-equipped workshop space for members to use. The workshop is open from Monday to Friday, 9 am to 12 pm at the W.S. Loggie Cultural Centre, 222 Wellington Street. Meetings are held the 1st Monday of each month except in the summer. Nature Miramichi – Miramichi Naturalist’s Club – Open to people who enjoy the natural environment. They meet on the first Tuesday each month September to June starting at 6:30 pm at the Friendly Neighborhood Senior Citizens’ Centre, 26 Sutton Road, Nelson. New Brunswick Genealogical Society – Miramichi Chapter They offer various genealogical research including: cemetery records, church records, census, vital statistics, obituaries, local family histories and books. Their meetings are eight times a year on the 4th Tuesday of the month at 6:15 pm at the Chatham Public Library, 24 King Street. Yearly membership is $40. Newcastle Public Library Book Club
Come out to the Newcastle Public Library’s new Book Club beginning on Tuesdays from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. All are welcome to attend and there will be light refreshments.

Seaman’s Hospital Crafts Group – Most members are quilting but all crafts are welcome. The group meets on Wednesdays from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm at the Seaman’s Hospital in Douglastown at 12 Vye Street. “The Very Best” Toastmasters
Toastmasters International is a non-profit educational organization that teaches public speaking and leadership skills through a worldwide network of club.
