Newcastle Public Library October Events

The Newcastle Public Library located at 100 Fountain Head Lane, Newcastle – Miramichi West is back in full swing with a wide variety of fall programs for all ages and you don’t want to miss out on!

The library is open Tuesday and Wednesday from 1pm to 8pm and Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10am to 5pm. They are closed Saturday and Monday.

Jog Your Mind: A Cognitive Vitality Program for Seniors

Concerned that your memory isn’t what it used to be? Are you interested in learning more about how aging can affect your concentration and your ability to rationalize? Like our muscles, our brain needs to be exercised every day to stay in shape.

Memory and concentration can be affected by a number of factors like stress, health problems, loneliness, and inactivity. At the workshops, you will learn about how aging and other factors can affect memory, useful tips and tricks for keeping your mind sharp, and what different types of activities and exercises will stimulate your mind.

The purpose of the Jog your Mind workshops are to help you:
-Regain confidence in your memory
-Sharpen your attention and memory faculties
-Practice tricks to help you remember information on a daily basis

Babies in the Library

The Newcastle Public Library invites you and your baby (newborn to 18 months) to join our fun and interactive Babies in the Library program.

Babies in the Library is a free hour long program that runs once a week for seven weeks. Our current session is on Thursdays at 10:30 AM starting September 5th.

Please register for this program by calling the library at 623-2450, or by visiting us during our open hours.

This program encourages babies’ development through stories, songs, action rhymes and tickles. It is also a great opportunity for parents to socialize. You’ll be singing the songs you hear for days afterward!

Tween Scene – Perler Crafts

Children 10-12 are invited to join us for Tween Scene. A special monthly program that occurs the first Saturday of the month consisting of games and art. October 5th Tween Scene will be perler bead crafting.

Drop-In Computer Training with Miramichi Adult Learning

In the labour market and looking to improve your computer skills? Looking to get back into the workforce or take on a new volunteer role? Miramichi Adult Learning Inc. in partnership with the Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training, and Labour is offering FREE drop-in computer training every Wednesday until October 30.

Training offered includes Windows 10, File Management, Internet Searching, Security & Privacy, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
