Miramichi History Museum
The Miramichi History Museum has been established
since 1897 with the mandate of preserving the artifacts and
history of the Miramichi, for future generation to enjoy and
for research purposes.
. The museum is home to some intriguing artifacts and
exhibits. Children are most attracted to the variety of birds, a
tarantula, crocodile and famous eight legged cat and four
legged chicken in the Natural History section. Adults are
interested in the Cunard Display, the ferries, Tommy the
Moose and the assorted Native Canadian Display.
The museum is operated by the Miramichi Natural
History Association, and throughout the years, it has had
several locations. It has now found it’s home at 182
Wellington Street, in the old Chatham Masonic Hall. It is
open from the middle of June to early September from
Monday to Saturday from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm. Admission
is $3 for anyone over the age of twelve years.
If you have not visited before, make time to explore one
of Miramichi’s most significant historical sites! For further
