Neguac
On the north shore of the Miramichi Bay is the village of Neguac. Considered the Oyster Hub of Atlantic
Canada, about 92 percent of its residents are Francophone and most are bilingual.
Neguac is an important Acadian and French cultural centre. The Savoie monument is displayed at the entrance
of the Richelieu Municipal Park commemorating the arrival of the first Savoie’s around 1757. With exceptional
natural attractions such as the magnificent dunes along its shores and the Miramichi Bay, visitors can enjoy a day
at the beach or take in the Eco-tourism Park.
Richelieu Municipal Park, situated at the heart of the municipality, provides an excellent locale for a picnic.
There is a gazebo that can be transformed into an outdoor stage. At the Neguac Wharf, services include water and
electricity, and boat launches.
Île-aux-foins Park is both an Eco-tourism site and a location for outdoor family activities. The lighthouse
site offers visitors a picnic area, gazebos and a playground for children. change-rooms, toilets and parking lots
can also be found at the park.
