been a part of this festival since she was ten years old.
What was a six-day event is now a four-day celebration
with a busy schedule of events. This year the festival will be
opened by Fr. Stanislas Paulin, gifted musician and very
knowledgeable of the Acadian music. Opening will be
Thursday, August 4th at 7:00pm. Fr. Paulin has directed many
award-winning choirs around the province and received a
national folklore award for one of his own compositions. He
was a great friend of the late Allan Kelly and will perform
some of his music. Ivan and Vivian Hicks will also perform
that evening along with local guests.
There will be one noon luncheon on Friday, August 5th
from 11:30pm to 1 pm. Performers for the noon luncheon
will be, Melanie Ross, Dan Mckinnon from Nova Scotia and
Jim Morrison’s band. Tickets must be reserved in advance.
There are 3 sittings.
There will be a BBQ on Saturday, from 11 am to 1 pm
hosted by Frankie Mckibbon and featuring local performers.
Children’s show will follow, hosted by Melanie Ross.
First ever “The Very Best Pub Night” will be held
Saturday, August 6th at the Kin Centre from 9 pm to
Midnight at the Beaverbrook Kin Centre, featuring Rob
Currie and The Corner Boys and The Beaulieu Family.
Tickets are limited and are moving quickly.
