John Dupuis – Vienna Pianist at the Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church
On Saturday, May 4, 2019, Vienna-based pianist John Dupuis returns to Miramichi with a programme of great music by Beethoven, Chopin, Debussy, Schubert, and the contemporary Canadian composers Gallant and Louie.
The doors open at 7:00 pm, with concert to start at 7:30 pm at the Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 360 Newcastle Boulevard.

John Dupuis has appeared in concert as soloist and in collaboration with orchestras, chamber ensembles, and singers in North America, Europe, and Asia. Germany’s Südwest Presse described his Chopin playing as “brilliant” and his interpretation of Schubert’s “Der Wanderer” Fantasie was lauded by Blüthner Piano as “one of the best”.
From 2009 to 2011, Mr. Dupuis performed a series of concerts for Blüthner, the programs of which included the late piano works of Franz Schubert.
He also gave a number of master classes during the same series and was awarded the title “Master Class Artist”.
Born and raised in Newcastle, Mr. Dupuis holds Piano Performance degrees from McGill University in Montreal and the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.
After receiving his Master of Music degree, he undertook further studies with some of Canada’s most eminent pianists, as well as internationally acclaimed American and European artists.
His many years as a Senior Piano Examiner of the Royal Conservatory of Music and member of the Canadian Music Festival Adjudicators’ Association took him to most regions of Canada to examine, adjudicate or give workshops.
Currently based in Vienna, Austria, Mr. Dupuis enjoys traveling extensively in Europe and exploring that continent’s rich variety of cultures. He speaks English, French and German.
