Call for Summer Submissions

Steaks on the BBQ … splashing in the pool … bonfires on the beach … hiking, biking, boating, camping, concerts, festivals, patio parties with family and friends … ice cream cones … Is there anything better than a New Brunswick summer?

We think not! Summer is in full swing in New Brunswick and Bread ‘n Molasses wants to celebrate the season! The people, the places, our natural, unnatural, and even supernatural wonders!

We’re currently accepting submissions of fiction, non-fiction, poetry, images, audio or video around the theme of “New Brunswick Summer”. Submissions can range from the simplest essay recounting your favourite summer vacation to the most complex video sharing the sights, sounds and people of summer in New Brunswick … and everything in between! From your best secret recipes that simply scream “Summer!” to your treasured family traditions, we want to showcase it all!

Share those great photographs of birds, bees, flowers, trees, lightning bolts, rainbows, fireworks, street performers, camping, boating trips, and more! Show us your summer inspired paintings, pottery, sculpture or other art!

If you love summer in New Brunswick as much as we do, then send us your best work today. Submissions can be light and funny, complex and dark, downright bizarre, or anywhere in between as long as they somehow involve summer in New Brunswick. We’ll showcase a slew of your submissions on our website as the Dog Days of summer begin to wind down in mid-August.

Submissions will be considered until Sunday August 12th and may be emailed to or uploaded using our online submission form.

Fiction or non-fiction stories should be no longer than 1500 words and 100 lines maximum for poems. Please include a brief author bio and photo. We will consider simultaneous submissions and reprints. Indicate that the work is being considered elsewhere or tell us where it was previously published.

Copyright remains with all authors, photographers and artists.
