Centennial Bridge Upgrade = Closures
The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure has awarded a contract to MQM Quality Manufacturing Ltd. for Phase 1 rehabilitation, painting and upgrade of the Miramichi River Bridge No. 1 (Centennial Bridge). This is a 3 year contract with work in the 2012, 2013 and 2014 summer construction seasons.
This work will involve nighttime complete closures along with daytime single lane closures of the bridge. In addition, the southbound ramp from Church Street to Route 11 will be closed for approximately 4 weeks this summer.
For the 2012 construction season, the tentative planned closures are:
• July 23 for approximately 4 weeks: Church Street – closure of southbound ramp to Route 11
• July 30 for approximately 3 weeks: Complete nighttime bridge closures (Sunday to Thursday each week, 11pm – 5am)
• July 31 for approximately 3 weeks: Single lane closure on bridge at south end
For those of you that are interested, an information session is scheduled for Wednesday, July 11 at 1:30pm at the Miramichi Transportation District Office boardroom, 1310 Water Street, Miramichi, NB.
These closures will be posted on the provincial 511 system. A signed detour route will be in place for the bridge closures.
