Canada Parks Day at Beaubears Island
Canada Parks Day happened Saturday July 18th and to commemorate the occasion Beaubears Island produced a special re-enactment of William Davidson’s famous 1785 election campaign.
The event also coincided with the official opening of the restored trail network which had a ribbon cutting ceremony and reception beginning at 2 pm. Dignitaries taking part in the event included Mayor Gerry Cormier and City Councillors, the Honourable Bill Fraser, Sylvie Robichaud of Parks Canada, the President of Friends of Beaubears Island Michael Mersereau, and Shawn McCarthy, acting Executive Director, Friends of Beaubears Island.
