Annual Camp Sheldrake Duck Race this Weekend

duckraceCamp Sheldrake wants to remind the community that its annual Duck Race fundraiser will take place this weekend on Saturday August 22nd at 5 pm at Bicentennial Park on the Nelson waterfront. The Camp Sheldrake Duck Race is the non-profit camp’s largest annual fundraiser and ticket sales have been ongoing all summer long. This year’s event sponsor is Maurie’s Mini Putt and Ice Cream.

The Duck Race event will take place from 3 pm to 5pm with lots of activities for families along the waterfront including a BBQ, camp style games like an obstacle course, a jumping castle, washer toss and more. The team from Beaubears Island will also be on site giving tours to the island all afternoon.

At 5 pm the ducks will be released into the Miramichi River for their annual run and a top prize of $3000 is at stake. There will also be prizes for the top five ducks including a week at Camp Sheldrake, an evening stay in the tree houses at Camping Miramichi, an evening cruise on the Max Aitken for 10 people, and a Dine Around Town package including gift certificates to The Portage, Pizza Delight, and The Cunard.

Tickets are still available right up until race time at the Beaubears Island Interpretive Centre, Beaubear’s Credit Union, and from any member of the Camp Sheldrake team.

For more information please contact Camp Sheldrake Board Chair, Chad Duplessie at or 625-4806. We hope you can join us for a day of fun in support of this valuable community organization.
