Volunteers Wanted for Hospice Miramichi Programs

Are you interested in making a difference in someone’s life? Hospice Miramichi is looking for dedicated volunteers for their Outreach and Day Hospice programs.

Volunteer Training Feb. 21st and 28th
Volunteer Training will be held on Feb. 19th and 21st, from 9:30am to 4pm at Hospice Miramichi, 14 Howard St. Registrants must attend both days in order to complete volunteer requirements.

Topics Include: Communication techniques, Understanding how an illness affects the person and their family, Grief and Bereavement, Spirituality, etc.

Hospice Miramichi was established in March 2011. The focus of hospice palliative care is on comfort, not cure and on life, not death. Hospice Miramichi seeks to raise the awareness of the unique needs of those living with life threatening illnesses where cure is not an option and medications are no longer controlling the condition. Hospice Miramichi works within the community to provide practical care and support for clients and families in their homes, in nursing homes, hospitals and residential care facilities (special care homes). Our volunteers are trained to provide practical and emotional support during the end stages of life and through the grieving process.

Contact Connie Doucet at 773-7607 to start the application process.

“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.” – Leo Buscaglia
