The Miramichi Folksong Festival presents champion Fiddler Patti Kusturok performing in Miramichi on Wednesday May 13th.

Manitoba Fiddle Association Hall of Fame member Patti Kusturok’s old time fiddle style is described as a little bit Métis, a little bit Québecois, and a whole lot of feel.

Often referred to as one the smoothest fiddle players in North America, Patti is known for her effortless delivery of some of the best traditional Canadian fiddle music of all time.

A recording artist, Patti is in high demand for performances, teaching, recording, and judging fiddle contests across the continent.

At the age of four, she began to learn playing the fiddle, and has a resume that reads like that of an Olympic champion. A few of her credits include: the Canadian Junior Champion (1985), three time Champion at the famous Pembroke, ON competition; six time Manitoba Champion; three time Grand North American Champion; and in 1994, 1995 and again in 1996, Patti won the prestigious Canadian Grand Masters Fiddling Championship in Ottawa, making her the first woman in the history of Canada to ever win and the very first person from Western Canada to attain the crown.

Subscribe to Patti’s YouTube Channel to follow her 365 Days of Fiddle Tunes program.

The Miramichi Folksong Festival presents Patti Kusturok on Wednesday May 13th beginning at 7 pm at the Beaverbrook Kin Centre, 100 Newcastle Blvd. Tickets are $15 at the door for adults and $10 for children. Tickets can be reserved by calling 506-622-1780 or email susanbutler@xplornet.com.
