Around the River This Weekend July 23-26
Last weekend’s long range forecast turned out to be a whole lot more grey than anticipated. So let’s hope that this weekend Mother Nature turns the tables and we see a lot more sunshine than promised … because we have another HUGE weekend of events happening around the River that you won’t want to miss!
Summer Fun Dayz kick off in Upper Miramichi today, Thursday July 23rd, with a Cold Plate take-out supper at St. Joachim’s Catholic Church beginning at 4 pm and continue throughout the weekend with multiple events taking place all over the community including more suppers, a community yard sale, beer gardens, a Car Show ‘n Shine, and much more.
Rain or shine, it’s Community Day at the Miramichi Folklore Park in Renous on Saturday, July 25th with a huge Yard Sale, Pancake Breakfast, Mac’s Seafood, Washer Toss, Pony Rides, Dance with Zach’s Band, and much more!
Fingers crossed for clear skies Saturday evening and a glimpse of the first quarter of the moon as brave souls head to Wilson’s Point for a historic Graveyard Tour that they’re likely not to forget any time soon.
Lots of live entertainment happening starting this evening with Miramichi Songwriters featuring Wade Hallihan, Kyle Richardson, and the Terry Whalen Band at Whalen’s Barn on the Old King George Hwy. This is a somewhat rare opportunity to hear original music from some of Miramichi’s best. As a special bonus the first 30 people will receive a free CD. The music starts promptly at 7 pm!
Speaking of great Miramichi music and CDs, Dillion Ryan’s band Hindsight is having their Album Launch Party Saturday night at The Boulevard Pub in Newcastle.
If you love pets, ice cream, mini-golf or all of the above then you need to head to Maurie’s Mini-Putt on Water Street in Chatham for the 5th Annual Putt for Pets fundraiser on Saturday. All sales from the Mini-Putt and the ice cream will go directly to the Miramichi SPCA.
Heading out of the city there’s a lot happening with Barnaby Days in Barnaby River, the Down River Music Festival in Neguac, the annual Escuminac Beach Pig Roast, and more!
