As always there’s plenty of activities and live music happening around the river this weekend. This is the last weekend the shops at Ritchie Wharf will be open before they all close for the season. So spend some of your Labour Day long weekend on the Wharf in Newcastle before everything is closed up until next summer. The always popular Ten Thousand Villages sale will be held at the St. Andrew’s Anglican church hall on Pleasant Street in Newcastle all day Friday from 10 am to 9 pm. Friday night head to Lyttleton for a Night Zip Party at Over the Hill Zip-line. There will be a bonfire, fireworks, glow sticks, and night zip-lining at only $5/ zip! Small children can ride with a parent for free!

Kidplayhouse Productions (KPH) have announced their Fall classes and will be taking in person registrations on Saturday from 12 noon to 2 pm at their new location in the Northumberland Woodlot Owners Association Building. Also on Saturday, football fans have the unique opportunity to learn how to coach at a FREE Beginners Coaching Clinic. Support the Miramichi SPCA by coming out to Middle Island Saturday starting at 11 am for the 16th Annual Dog Jog. Bring a furry friend, or if you don’t have one, bring a non furry one. Come out and enjoy a walk, a BBQ, contests, demonstrations and great prizes. Speedway Miramichi will be hosting its first Antique & Classic Car Show and Shine at the track in Douglastown on Saturday from 12 noon to 3:30 pm.
