We’re Gearing up for Rotary RibFest – May 24-26, 2019

The Rotary Club of Newcastle is gearing up for their annual RibFest, the weekend of May 24-26, 2019. This weekend event will take place in the downtown parking area in front of the library off Ledden Street. Dessert Theatre – Tall & True

The so-called “Beaubears Island Players” have really done it this time. The informal community theatre troupe, assembled by the Friends of Beaubears Island, has, since 2014, brought history to life on the stage, but they’ve never done anything quite like this. In their pursuit to help raise funds to extend the employment of area students interpreting the past on Beaubears Island, they plan to present not one, but five stories, in one fun-filled performance. Tall and True is a five-part theatrical production charting the course of 6 Beaubears Island vessels, and what became of them after leaving Miramichi. The performance will hit the stage at the Beaverbrook Kin Centre from April 26-28, starting at 7pm. Read more »

Anglophone North School District has challenged all schools to become champions of Change and Reconciliation, thus incorporating an indigenous perspective in the District. The first 150 challenge was celebrating Canada’s first 150 years. Now we are embarking into the next 150 challenge, to make it even better. The play features four scenes whose action takes place in rooms 203 and 204 in the Beverly Hills Hotel.

Greater Miramichi Senior’s Auction 45’s Championships

On Monday, April 15th, 2019, beginning at 1 pm, Seniors 55+ are invited to come out to the Lindon Recreation Centre, 485 King George Highway (Newcastle Farmer’s Market Building) in the former Town of Newcastle – Miramichi West. It will be home to the Greater Miramichi Senior’s Auction 45’s Championships!

Miramichi SPCA Renovations Information Update

As most of you know the Miramichi SPCA located at 128 Dan Cripps Street in the Miramichi Industrial Park (Miramichi East – Chatham Side) we will soon be undergoing renovations. This will be a lengthy process and will be challenging to keep the shelter in operation throughout.

They are going to be seeking foster homes for the duration of the renovations (could be up to 3 months). They will be needing all types of foster homes (some with kids, some without, some who have lots of time, others who don’t require as much time, some who have other animals, others without).
